Hastelloy tubes

Enclosed picture is about tubes in Hastelloy – Alloy C22 material. Nothing spectacular at first sight … but still. The tubes were not available on the market with the required internal Ra value of less than 0.8µm.

The complexity of the job arose in several areas. Welding Hastelloy materials is more complex than ordinary stainless steel or carbon steel tubes. Luckily we have the necessary experience in this field. First we had to get the surface roughness of the Hastelloy sheets to less than 0.8µm. Standard stainless steel sheets can be delivered easily with this Ra value but Hastelloy has a rougher finish. Then we had to handle part per part because internal welded joints of 1 meter long cannot be treated as such. Next difficult step was to put the grooves in the flanges. Our affiliate company Deprest in Kruibeke is an expert in turning and milling. Our cooperation resulted in a fine piece of work.
