Sanding and grinding are other terms for directionless brushing. This is a manual finish that is somewhat different from the traditional polished/brushed stainless steel or glass blasted stainless steel. This finish is widely used in kitchens, for kitchen worktops or bathrooms countertops, etc.

The great advantage of directionless brushing is that fingerprints or streaks are not visible on the stainless steel surface (or only exceptionally), in comparison with unidirectional brushed or glass blasted stainless steel finishes for which this tends to be a problem.
