Blue steel

Hot-rolled steel sheets are obtained by flattening hot plates with rollers, in contrast to the thinner plates that are usually cold-rolled. In the hot rolling process, a mainly blue-black sheen is created through the heat treatment, sometimes with ochre coloured flares. These sheets are often beautiful, but their use remains industrial, because of the possible presence of defects or scratches sustained while at the distributor or in the factory. The sheets are a great match with other natural materials such as wood, natural stone or stainless steel.

The fact that they are industrial sheets means that they must be pre-selected in our workshop for aesthetic applications. Beautiful, unscratched sheets can be considered for aesthetic applications, while the other sheets can be used for industrial applications. Sometimes, however, we don’t have any suitable sheets in stock and we need to order new ones... It is therefore essential to clearly state in a request for a quotation or in an order that the sheets will be used for an aesthetic application; the preselection has its price - the price will be higher than for standard steel sheets.

Further processing of these sheets is difficult, since they are raw steel sheets. This makes them very sensitive to corrosion.
